Safeguarding
We acknowledge our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children involved in rugby at the club and we adhere to all the RFU safeguarding policies, procedures, recommended practices and guidelines. Furthermore we fully endorse and support the statements contained in those documents. These documents can be viewed on the England Rugby website or downloaded below. Under child protection legislation and RFU policy, a ‘child’ is anyone under the age of 18 engaged in any rugby union activity. At Alresford this will more specifically pertain to the following groups:
– All children in the minis from U5s to U11s.
– U18s playing/training with the senior squads.
We encourage children, parents and club personnel to report any suspected instances of risk to the welfare of a child, to a member of the coaching staff or the Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO). If an incident involves the CSO, the Club Chairman should be informed or the RFU Safeguarding team contacted directly.
Safeguarding Policy
We have a comprehensive safeguarding policy in-line with the RFU’s policies and procedures. Guidelines and procedural practices are also in place to meet the requirements of the Safeguarding Policy, which is followed by the club, it’s officials, coaches, first aiders etc. The full Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Guidelines are available to download below.

Playing Out of Age Grade
In Youth Rugby, the decision to allow a young person to play out of age grade or a 17 year old to play adult rugby, or an U19 to play down to Colts lies with the person in the best position to assess all the relevant circumstances in accordance with the relevant Regulations. It is a requirement of RFU Regulation 15 that this form is duly completed and signed and retained as a record of consent.
